Happy Halloween! If you just attended a weekend this past weekend, you may have seen the bride and groom incorporate some details of this great holiday into their big day. Or maybe you’re a Halloween fanatic that is dreaming of your own Halloween-inspired wedding. We agree that you can have a lot of fun by adding spooky elements to your wedding day, so long as it’s tasteful and doesn’t distract from the bride and groom.

Take a look at some ideas we’ve seen and loved at Halloween weddings. Be sure to share your own ideas by leaving us a comment!

Start with the invitations

Your wedding invitation makes an important first impression and will help set the theme (and expectations) for your guests. Especially if you want your guests to come in costume or wear attire fitting of the holiday, they’ll appreciate the heads up. Best of all, Halloween-inspired invitations can be so creative! This doesn’t mean sending out something that looks like a little kid’s party invite, rather yours can be “romantically haunted” with whimsical, but classy hints of Halloween reflected in the font, overlays and color choice.

Get creative with your bouquets

Vibrant flowers full of life don’t quite fit in with the Halloween theme, so dare to think outside the box! Choose flowers that have been dyed black or swap out flowers altogether for alternative items like feathers. One of our favorite ideas is having your bridal party walk down the aisle with a modern twist on the old witch’s broom. Your guests will love this details and it will surely make for a fun entrance into your reception.

Dare to use black

While you certainly don’t want your wedding to look like a funeral, incorporating some tasteful elements of black can really accent your Halloween theme. Black table linens, centerpieces and chair covers will have a big impact on the first impression of your reception. As the bride, you can also have some hints of black to complement your white look. Think jewelry, hair accessories or the hem of your dress and veil to add just the right touch of spookiness.

Add “hidden” details that you can choose when to show

Another tip for the bride and bridal party is to incorporate subtle Halloween details that can be shown off when you went them to be visible, but hidden the rest of the time. A great way to do this is with your choice of shoes, or for your groomsmen their socks. Think wicked witch of the west! This makes for a great photo opportunity while not distracting from your overall wedding service.
